So, this week has been pretty good. The passing of Susan has definitely put a solemn mood on the week but it is always reassuring to remember the knowledge we have about death. Aunt Susie was a great Aunt to me and so many others and will be missed so much. I remembered all of the many times she would drop us off at the movies with Nicole and just how happy she always was! An elect lady with a wonderful family. So miss the family at these times.
Elder Perkins from the first Quorum of the Seventy came to New Orleans, so we were grateful to be able to see him in our zone and stake conference this weekend. Some of the stories he told were really great, I will relate a few....
Speaking of a story when with Elder Perry in Montana
He said that Elder Perry is very open when it comes to talking to people about being a Mormon. He told us all a story of when in an airplane and the stewardess came and asked them if they wanted before dinner drinks Elder Perry said "We're Mormons! We don't do that stuff! That's why were the happiest people on earth! Would you like to know more about us? the stewardess said she was busy so Elder Perry then said that they "We're ready whenever!"
She came back after dinner and she asked if they wanted after dinner drinks like coffee
Elder Perry "No, I already told you we're Mormons we don't do that stuff, that's why were the happiest people on earth, want to know more?"
Another story was the next day when getting toast and muffins at the hotel there was a man stocking everything and just kind of making sure things were in order. Elder Perry and the mission President from Montana were standing there when the man asked if they were Mormons. Elder Perry asked how they knew they were Mormons the man said he worked in St George for a few years. Perry said "Are ya baptized yet?" the man said no "Well why not, did anyone give you a Book of Mormon?" Uh uh was his response then Elder Perry said. Whats wrong with those people in St George!"
haha Elder Perkins had the greatest impression of Elder Perry and even had the funny mouth thing to boot that Elder Perry does when speaking. The members were really encouraged by what he taught and I hope the spirit of the meetings carry on further into the following weeks so we can really hasten the work even more. Elder Perkins emphasized that sharing the gospel as regular members doesn't need to be anything drastic mostly just simple acts of service and overall just opening our mouths. If we don't talk to people and let them know we are Mormons they wont get interested. Well what else is there I guess I'm excited again to be here in Kenner and will be here with Elder Porter another six weeks. Mardi Gras is coming up along with the start of craw fish season so we are super excited about that! Its going to be a great week and am excited to tell you all about next Monday!
